Makindu are Randeep Bilkhu (tabla) and Tim Wall (clarinet). Randeep learnt the tabla from her father, and grew up in London playing sacred music in the Sikh tradition. Tim's childhood study of the clarinet in Australia began to evolve into improvisation, and through his travels took on the flavours of Turkey and the Balkan peninsula. Together they have traversed the globe, collaborating with musicians from different backgrounds and exploring conversations between rhythm and melody. They draw on the history, folklore and cultural inheritance of their instruments, combining to create music that transcends borders and opens new pathways to the listener.
