Born in Auckland NZ but more recently hailing from the middle of nowhere in the Hawkes Bay region, Victoria Vigenser’s settling down into a new suitcase and taking only her originals with her.
Gritty social comment and imagery is a theme in her writing, delivered with a strong, controlled vocal and solid accompaniment on guitar, dulcimer or bodhran. The tales of the tunes are light-hearted but the songs are not. With a special passion for harmony, she combines voice and instrumentation to conjure music that cannot be ignored.
Victoria has teamed up with the legendary mandolin/violinist and recording engineer Lindsay Martin to put down a long-awaited album of originals which will hit the scene in September this year.
With a style that resembles the likes of Mitchell, Chapman and Difranco at different times, there is a spell binding quality to Vic’s delivery that comes out in every song. With the virtuosic licks of Lindsay Martin woven into her songs, this is a show not to be missed.
